The la Liga giant and Adidas have extended their business deal till June 2028, which marks a third decade of the most successful alliance in football.

Real Madrid has reportedly inked a massive new €1.1 billion (£946m/$1.2bn) sponsorship deal with Adidas.

The German sportswear giant and the Spanish club have been working together since 1998, and Adidas confirmed that a new deal was in place on Wednesday, though the company did not offer up financial details.

During their reported business period, Real Madrid has won 6 Champions Leagues, 6 Club World Cups, 4 UEFA Super Cups, 6 Liga titles, 5 Spanish Super Cups and 2 Copa del Reys.

The €1.1b figure is expected to be the guaranteed amount picked up by the club and is thought to be the most lucrative kit deal in football history.

Real Madrid could pick up as much as €152m (£130m/$170m) per year when merchandising is factored in, a massive raise over the €52m on their current deal and well ahead of rivals Barcelona, who are reportedly earning around €85m per year from Nike.

According to the club president Florentino Pérez: "Real Madrid and Adidas are two of the most iconic brands in the sporting world. It is a natural step to extend our successful deal until 2028. Together we will continue to build this strategic alliance that helps us set a benchmark and remain leaders in football. Adidas is an ideal sponsor for us. Adidas provides the best equipment for our performance on and off the pitch and they have fantastic original products for our fans around the world. We know that together, we will continue to have years of success to come".
