Arsenal vs Sheffield United predictions for Saturday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium is one of our top banker bet for today. Arsenal can close to within a point of Sheffield United with a win against the Blades this weekend. Read on for all our free Premier League predictions and betting tips.

  • Under 2.5 goals hit the net in five of Mikel Arteta’s first six games in charge.
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in eight of Sheffield United’s last 10 matches.
  • Just one goal was scored in Arsenal and Sheffield United’s reverse Premier League meeting in October.
  • Sheffield United drew six of their 11 Premier League away games so far this season.

Sheffield United hold four point advantage
Ahead of their clash at the Emirates on Saturday, 10th placed Arsenal trail 6th placed Sheffield United by four points in the Premier League standings – a January scenario that few would have envisaged before the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The newly promoted Blades have enjoyed a stunning start to life back in the top flight, and this weekend, United will be aiming to complete a league double over the Gunners for the first time since the 1946/47 season.

Chris Wilder’s men look to have fully recovered from a trio of successive Premier League disappointments against Watford (1-1), Man City (0-2) and Liverpool (0-2), and their back-to-back wins over Fylde in the FA Cup and West Ham in the league suggest that they have redressed their temporary slide.

Arsenal’s goal threat lessened
In their last outing, Arsenal were somewhat unlucky to draw at 1-1 Crystal Palace having created more clear-cut opportunities than their hosts. The Eagles’ equalizer came via a wickedly deflected Jordan Ayew effort, and to compound the Gunners’ misery their own goalscorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was dismissed for a horrible tackle just after the hour.

The Gabonese international, who rattled the net three times in his last four Premier League appearances, is an integral cog in Arsenal’s attacking machine, and their threat in forward areas will be considerably reduced in his absence this weekend.

Arsenal’s matches had already seen a reduction in the number of goals scored at either end in their games since the appointment of Mikel Arteta however. Under 2.5 goals were scored in five of the six games the Gunners’ have contested since the Spaniard’s arrival, and on Saturday, Arsenal meet a Sheffield United team that see fewer goals than most in their matches.

Low-scoring patterns in Sheffield United’s games
Limited penalty area drama is something Blades’ fans are fully familiar with. Under 2.5 goals were registered in eight of the Blades’ last 10 fixtures, and in total, Sheffield United averaged just 1.0 goal per 90 minutes during the same period.

Similarly, Arsenal have averaged just 1.0 goal per game under the direction of Mikel Arteta, and shorn of the services of Aubameyang, who scored 50% of their goals in their last six games, the Gunners shouldn’t be expected to improve on their average this weekend.

Just one goal was plundered when Sheffield United turned Arsenal over 1-0 in the reverse league meeting between the pair in October, and with the underlying factors suggesting that Saturday’s rematch should be just as tight, we think the under 2.5 total goals market holds value for this weekend’s bout.

Sheffield United take the Premier League’s joint best defensive record to the Emirates, though their recent return of just one clean sheet from seven away games suggest they will concede on Saturday.

However, with just three shutouts from 20 attempts themselves, clean sheets have been just as rare for Arsenal, and we expect Sheffield United to find joy in behind the Gunners’ notoriously porous backline again.

With those elements considered, our correct score prediction settles on a 1-1 draw – a result that would see away day draw specialists Sheffield United share the spoils for the 7th time in 12 Premier League matches on the road this term.
