Bayern will not exercise option to sign Coutinho from Barcelona

German newspaper Bild assured on Wednesday that Bayern Munich will not exercise their option to make Philippe Coutinho's loan from Barcelona permanent.

Coutinho, who has played the last four games for Bayern in the Bundesliga, is doing well after joining on loan from Barça last summer for 8.5 million euros with an option to make it permanent for 120 million.

However, while they're happy with his performances on the pitch, they feel the cost to push the deal through is excessive based on what he's added.

Coutinho has played 23 games for the Bavarians, scoring seven goals and setting up seven more across the Bundesliga (six goals, five assists) and the Champions League (one goal, two assists).

Barça's club-record signing at 160 million left Camp Nou last summer after failing to make a mark on Ernesto Valverde's side, however new coach Quique Setien may have plans for him.

He has a contract with the Catalan club until 2023 and a release clause fixed at 400 million.
