BREAKING: Eriksen leaves Spurs to join Inter for reported £17.5m deal until 2024

Christian Eriksen has completed his expected transfer from Tottenham to Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old flew into Milan for a medical on Monday, and has now signed a long-term contract with the Nerrazurri.

Tottenham accepted Inter's cut-price offer to part ways with Eriksen this month, rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season.

Eriksen's future has been the topic of much debate after he failed to secure a move away from Spurs in the summer.

With the Dane's contract due to expire in the summer, Spurs took the decision to cut their losses and move the midfielder on.

The deal is rumoured to have pocketed Spurs a fee in the region of £17.5million, after they knocked back Inter's original offer of £12m.

Eriksen becomes the latest Premier League player to head to the San Siro, following in the footsteps of Ashley Young and Victor Moses, who both joined the Serie A club this month.

It brings his time at Tottenham to a close, during which he became a fan favourite, though the stand-off surrounding his contract is an episode the club will be pleased to have drawn a line under.

Boss Jose Mourinho has been relentlessly dogged with questions regarding Eriksen, and has often utilised the player only from the subs bench.

Real Madrid, Man Utd and Juventus were all linked with moves for Eriksen in the summer, but none challenged Inter, who seemingly had a clear run for his signature.

Tottenham have already gone about replacing the star, having loaned Gedson Fernandes from Benfica, and are now in talks with PSV's Steven Bergwijn.

Bergwijn was left out of PSV's squad for Sunday's game against FC Twente after Spurs lodged a bid believed to be in the region of £30million.

Sources in Holland expect the deal to be done in the next 24 hours.
