Klopp: Minamino does really well in 1st PL game & completely integrated in team

Jurgen Klopp praised Takumi Minamino after thrusting the new Liverpool signing into a “difficult” Premier League debut.

The Japan international emerged as a substitute after 33 minutes of the 2-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday as replacement for the injured Sadio Mane.

It was Minamino's first taste of the English top flight since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg for £7.25million at the start of the month.

And Klopp believes the 25-year-old has already demonstrated his versatility.

“We played slightly differently tonight than usual, we defended in 4-4-2 and offensive we were in our normal shape,” said the Liverpool boss.

“Taki has had two or three weeks training with us now in different positions, he played centrally in the FA Cup, he can play right or left, we need him but he is not a winger in this case.

“He is a player for between the lines. Oxlade had to be a little higher (after Minamino came on).

“It was really difficult for Taki. He injured his calf towards half-time, he had to have a bit of treatment, he felt nothing and could go through so he should be fine.

“For his first Premier League game he did really well, and is completely integrated in the team.” Follow us on Twitter and on Facebook
