legend! Marcelo makes his 500th appearance for Real Madrid

It wasn't his best performance in a Real Madrid shirt, but Marcelo played his 500th game for Los Blancos at Real Zaragoza on Wednesday evening.

Florentino Perez gifted the Brazilian with a commemorative shirt to mark the occasion.

Marcelo is now just 27 games short of Roberto Carlos' total for the club, with the latter being the foreign player with the most appearances in Real Madrid's history.

Marcelo landed in Madrid in the January 2007 as an exciting left-back.

Now he's vice-captain and one of the heavyweights in the dressing room.

He's won four Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, four LaLiga Santander titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and two Supercopa de Espana crowns.

In his 500 games, Marcelo has won 345 games and scored 36 times.

Of those 500, 350 have come in LaLiga Santander, 97 in the Champions League, 32 in the Copa del Rey, eight in the Club World Cup, nine in the Supercopa de Espana and four in the European Super Cup.

Marcelo's contribution has reduced this season though, but despite not being at his best, his attitude hasn't changed.
