Saha sends Man Utd Bruno Fernandes transfer warning

Bruno Fernandes could struggle to adapt to the speed of the Premier League if he signs for Manchester United.

That's the verdict of former United striker Louis Saha, as the Sporting Libson playmaker remains locked in talks over a switch to Old Trafford.

Latest reports have claimed the 25-year-old has agreed personal terms with United, with MEN Sport understanding that a January transfer is a distinct possibility.

But Saha, who himself was a January signing for United back in 2004, has concerns over Fernandes' game and whether it will suit English football.

He spoke to MEN Sport exclusively via BonusBetCodes and said: “Like some players who have come from abroad into the Premier League, Bruno Fernandes might struggle to adapt.

"Coming from a league in Portugal where the quality level is lower than in England, trying to adapt to the pace and style of football in the Premier League will be tough.

"But he looks like a leader which is exactly what the team needs.”

United have identified a No.10 as a transfer priority and have also shown interest in Leicester City star James Maddison and Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, as well as Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek. Though unlike Fernandes, it is believed none of those players will be available in the January window.

The Portugal international, however, could be snared for around £60million with the possibility of United players being included in the deal as makeweights. Follow us on Twitter and on Facebook
