Lukaku: It was always a dream for me to play for Inter

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset show Tiki Taka, Romelu Lukaku has reminisced about his first Milan derby experience ahead of this weekend's second Milan derby of the season.

The first derby came just a few weeks into this season and Lukaku, who joined Inter this past Summer in a club record transfer deal from Manchester United endeared himself to the Inter faithful as he nodded home to score Inter's second goal in a 2-0 victory.

“It was a great feeling to score my first derby goal because it was always a dream for me to play for Inter. The first final I saw as a child was Inter-Lazio, I had the ambition to play in Italy and for Inter,” he said in the interview which was broadcast late on Monday night.

The 26-year-old Belgian international striker then went on to discuss the respect that he has for AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a player he knows well due to their time together at Manchester United.

The veteran Swede has netted two goals in five appearances across all competitions since he returned to the Rossoneri club during the January transfer window on a free transfer.

“Ibra is a great champion, I respect him. In Manchester I was able to train with him every day, for me it was the best thing.

“It will be nice to face him, for me he is a great champion and professional. For me it is normal that he does those things at 38. He is someone who works a lot and always helped me when we played together in Manchester.”
