Madrid have feweast goals among leaders in Europe's top five league

Real Madrid's 44 goals in 22 LaLiga Santander games this season is the lowest out of any of the leaders of Europe's top five leagues.

It's also fewer than Ajax's 62 and Benfica's 47 in the Dutch and Portuguese leagues respectively.

This is largely because Real Madrid's attacking players aren't contributing enough in the scoring department.

Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Lucas Vazquez, Mariano Diaz, Brahim Diaz and Gareth Bale have scored 21 goals between them, whereas Robert Lewandowski has 22 goals on his own.

When you take into account that 13 of those 21 goals (61.9 percent) have come from Benzema, it underlines the lack of goal threat coming from the other forwards.

In fact, the Frenchman is the only forward to score for Real Madrid in LaLiga Santander since Rodrygo and Jovic also netted against Leganes.

In comparison, Paris Saint-Germain's forwards have scored 41 of the team's total of 65 goals this season.

In the Premier League, Liverpool have scored 60 goals on their way to taking 73 from a possible 75 points this campaign.

On the other hand, none of Europe's top leaders have as good a defensive record as Real Madrid do this season.

Los Blancos have conceded just 13 goals, while Liverpool, Juventus, Bayern Munich and PSG have all conceded more.

Benfica (eight goals conceded) and Porto (12) are the only other teams with a better defensive record.
