Abraham, who has become Chelsea's No 1 striker this season under Frank Lampard after scoring 13 goals in 25 Premier League matches, has rejected the latest contract offer from the club.

It is understood that the England striker is seeking a salary that matches that of Chelsea's top earners before committing his long-term future to the club.

Abraham has witnessed a number of first-team players sign new deals at Stamford Bridge, most notably Callum Hudson-Odoi, who sealed a a five-year last September worth an estimated £180,000-per-week contract.

But a report in the Telegraph recently claimed that Abraham has not asked to be paid more than £180,000-per-week or become Chelsea's highest earner.

And the 22-year-old has since emphatically backed up this report after a Chelsea fan group posted the Telegraph's story on Instagram.

Abraham, whose current contract expires in the summer of 2022, simply replied: 'Finally some real news'.

Abraham was enjoying a successful breakthrough season at Chelsea after coming back on loan from Aston Villa in the summer.

However, a recent ankle injury derailed his ambitions, allowing Olivier Giroud to stake his claim as Lampard's main striker at Stamford Bridge before the Premier League was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
