Arsenal and Tottenham ready to battle for Liverpool's Lovren

Dejan Lovren is keen on moving to London this summer, putting clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur on red alert for the Liverpool defender.

The Croatian has fallen behind the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez in the pecking order at Anfield and is looking for the opportunity to secure more first team football.

Having given six years service to the club, Jurgen Klopp will not stand in the 30-year-old's way if he wishes to depart.

In addition, Lovren has just one more year left on his contract and it will enable the Reds a final opportunity to recoup a transfer fee.

Although the north London rivals will battle to sign him, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are also in the running and keen to make an offer.

The London quartet will all face a battle from abroad with teams from all of Europe's major leagues also keeping tabs on his situation.

Klopp has options to replace Lovren should the Croatian leave, with Joel Matip also providing cover while midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho can also slot into centre-back should the need arise.

Despite these options though, the Liverpool boss will still seek to sign a replacement.

Liverpool signed Lovren in a high profile £23million deal back in 2014 from Southampton and he has since gone on to make 184 appearances in all competitions.

He has only featured sparingly this term, playing just 14 times in all competitions.

Just nine of those games were in the Premier League where he has played just once since December, that coming in the 3-0 defeat at Watford at the end of February which ended the Reds' unbeaten start to the season.
