OFFICIAL: La Liga suspended for next two matchdays due to coronavirus pandemic

The coronavirus outbreak has caused all La Liga matches to be suspended, it has been confirmed.

Both the top and second tiers of Spanish football has been halted for a minimum of two weeks as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause chaos.

The news comes after Real Madrid were forced into a self-imposed quarantine after a basketball player at the club tested positive for coronavirus.

The football and basketball teams share training facilities and thus no risks are being taken.

Real Madrid are due to travel to the Etihad for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester City on Tuesday next week.

But the latest developments have placed the match under severe doubt.

Juventus confirmed on Wednesday night that defender Daniele Rugani has tested positive for coronavirus - becoming the highest-profile player so far to do so.
