Pique supports Barca assistant coach after controversial outbursts in Clasico

Gerard Pique has come out in support of Barcelona assistant coach Eder Sarabia following his controversial outbursts in the Clasico.

Sarabia was cheered by the Camp Nou crowd during Barcelona's 1-0 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday as he continued to show passion on the sidelines.

"When the club is being weak, these types of things rise up," Pique said about the situation.

"A few weeks ago, the talk was about the players not having a huddle before the game and it was because of the change of coach, just like the warm-up was different.

"It's the same thing.

"[Sarabia's behaviour] is completely normal.

"The assistant coach is full of adrenaline, it's all completely normal for us.

"The boss apologised and we told him that it wasn't because of us; in any case it was because of the image of the club.

"We really don't care; in fact, we like that there's intensity in the dugout and they're living [the game] too.

"We always have to go out to disprove it, then we go out and nothing else."

On the pitch, Barcelona struggled to create chances against Real Sociedad, who had also played on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey.

"We knew that it was going to be very tough because we're coming from the defeat at the [Estadio Santiago] Bernabeu and they're having an exceptional season and they've reached the final of the Copa," Pique added.

"It wasn't going to be easy; they play good football, we try to, and [the game] was decided by the small details.

"Some hands inside the penalty area have given us the three points."
