Spain bans Italian flights as Napoli-Barca & Inter-Getafe at risk

The Spanish Government announced it is banning direct flights between Italy and Spain due to the Coronavirus, putting Napoli-Barcelona, Inter-Getafe and Sevilla-Roma at risk.

The only exceptions for this ruling, which runs from March 11 to 25, is for emergency, humanitarian and medical flights.

This decree will come into effect from midnight tonight, so Atalanta will hope to get away from Valencia with one of the last available planes.

It could cause serious problems for the Champions League and Europa League, as there are several Italian-Spanish matches planned.

On Thursday, Inter are due to host Getafe at San Siro, while Roma visit Sevilla.

Although those fixtures will be played behind closed doors, a ban on flights complicates the situation.

Next week, Napoli play the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie with Barcelona at Camp Nou, again behind closed doors.
