Dybala: I didn’t want to go anywhere else, I only wanted Juventus

Paulo Dybala reveals he kept other clubs hanging because he knew “sooner or later that the call would come from Juventus. I didn’t want to go anywhere else.”

The forward joined Juve from Palermo for €40m in the summer of 2015 and his transfer value has more than doubled.

Still recovering from the coronavirus, he spoke with the official Juventus website about the moment he first knew Juve were interested.

“I remember that day as if it were yesterday,” replied Dybala in the video interview.

“I was at home in Palermo with my mother and others. We were talking about what could happen, the team I could choose, there were already many clubs, coaches and others calling, but I wouldn’t close to door on anyone, nor say yes or no, because I felt that sooner or later the call would come from Juve.

“One day, after lunch, my agent called and said in an hour, you’ll receive a phone call from the Juventus director. I spoke to Fabio (Paratici) and he told me that he’d do everything possible to ensure that I joined Juventus.

“After I put the phone down, I ran over to my Mum, I hugged her and said I didn’t want to go anywhere else.”

The 26-year-old has since made 216 competitive appearances for the Bianconeri, contributing 91 goals and 36 assists.
