Juventus star Douglas Costa and his girlfriend help those in need in Brazil

Juventus star Douglas Costa, his mother and girlfriend have helped those in need in Brazil during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 29-year-old, his mother Marlene Costa de Souza as well as his partner Nathalia Felix stocked up on supplies, filled a car and handed them out.

Costa was one of a number of Juventus players allowed by the club to return home amid the coronavirus crisis.

Costa and Felix, a Brazilian model, posted a host of photos onto their Instagram pages to show their gesture on Tuesday.

The winger wrote: 'Today we are in the midst of all this confusion with an even greater desire to help others!'

While Felix captioned several pictures: 'Summary of our day!! Helping those in need "Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as for the Lord, and not for men, Colossians 3:23."'

Brazil has 14,049 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 688 deaths from the illness have been recorded at the time of publication.

Adrien Rabiot became the ninth Juventus player to return home earlier this week following the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Costa, Gonzalo Higuain, Sami Khedira and Wojciech Szczesny.

The pandemic has resulted in the suspension of football in Italy but Serie A chiefs are weighing up the extreme possibility of playing the remaining 12 league matches all in Rome.
