The cancelled El Clasico in Las Vegas will see Barca miss out on €9m

The health crisis provoked by the COVID-19 outbreak has forced the International Champions Cup to cancel their preseason tournament, which is traditionally held in the USA and Asia, this summer.

One of the scheduled matches for the summer was an El Clasico in Las Vegas. A huge opportunity for both Barça and Real Madrid to expand their reach in the US but also a huge payday for the LaLiga giants.

The cancellation means neither side will pocket the reported €9m each for the game.

It's bad news in a time when football sides need all the cash injections they can get. This would have only been the second time a Clasico had been played in the United States.

In 2017, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, over 66,000 were in attendance to watch Real Madrid face Barça. The Catalan side won 3-2 thanks to goals from Messi, Rakitic and Pique.
