A Problem Has Been Found With Kylian Mbappe Transfer To Liverpool

Liverpool have been regularly linked with a summer transfer for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe this summer with reports suggesting that the Reds will have to pay an initial £40m for the World Cup winner.

But Reds’ fans have spotted a problem that could arise if the pacy Frenchman does complete a move to Anfield.

A transfer fee of up to £150m may be needed though, football finance expert Kieran Maguire has explained how Jurgen Klopp’s side could pay just £40m initially for the Frenchman.

Maguire had said: “Is it plausible? Yes. I think they would be looking for a discounted price should PSG decide to want to sell him, or if the player pushes for a move.

“When you take a look at the cost of a player, if Kylian Mbappe came to Liverpool, he’s still very young.

 “They could sign him on a six-year contract. So if you sign him for £150m on a six-year contract, the way it works out in terms of the accounts, you spread that £150m over six years. That costs £25m a year against profits.

“He will deliver trophies, he will deliver sporting partners in terms of people that want his face. That will go down very well so some money will come back.

“But then there is wages and he will want £15m a year, so Liverpool are looking at it costing them £40m a year to have Kylian Mbappe at the football club.”

But Liverpool fans aren’t entirely convinced Mbappe is what they need at the club, fearing that the 21-year-old could disrupt the harmony of the current trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, while also being concerned over Mbappe’s wages.
