Algerian winger faces 12 months jail after he was arrested for masturbating in public in France

Algeria winger Farid El Melali is facing 12 months in prison in France after he was arrested for masturbating in public while peering into a female neighbour’s flat.

The 22-year-old Angers star who scored five goals in 11 games before the Ligue 1 cancelled due pandemic outbreak but the winger just signed a contract extension with until 2023 earlier that day.
El Meli was reported to have been pleasuring himself in the courtyard of his building when police were called on him last night.

The footballer’s lawyer Sandra Chirac-Kollarik said via Le Parisien: “He wasn’t targeting anyone, and wasn’t aggressive towards anyone.

”And his client was unaware that the female neighbour in question could see him as part of their legal defence.
He admitted an “inappropriate attitude” when questioned by police.He has been charged with indecent exposure.

El Melali is said to have claimed that he thought he was alone in the courtyard of the building in question.

He was released but will be “tried soon in the context of a pre-conviction appearance, the equivalent of a guilty plea,” add Le Parisien.

El Melali now faces a maximum of 12 months behind bars and £13,000 fine.
Born in Blida, Algeria, El Melali made his national team debut for Algeria in 2018 before making more two appearances for the African Champions country without scoring.
