Arsenal In Danger Of Repeating Aaron Ramsey Mistake With Aubameyang Transfer

If Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not sold in the summer transfer window, Arsenal could find itself repeating history as was the case where Aaron Ramsey left on a free last summer after his contract expired in June 2019.

That’s according to Jeremie Aliadiere, who says he can’t believe his former club have failed to learn from their previous mistakes.

Interest in Aubameyang is very high, with Barcelona and Inter Milan among the clubs keeping tabs on the Gabon international.

Aliadiere fears the forward, who will be out of contract next summer, could see out his final year at Arsenal before signing a mega-contract elsewhere, just like Ramsey did.

And the Frenchman has hit out at Arsenal for failing to see this and neither selling Aubameyang last summer nor tying him down to new terms.

“They’ve got to sell him, 100 per cent,” Aliadiere told Goal.
“Arsenal can’t keep losing players on a free. To be honest, I still can’t believe we’ve again got a top player, our captain, going into the summer only having one year left on his contract.

“For me, it has to be sorted when he gets to two years. Last summer he should have signed a deal or been sold. Because when you get down to one year left, in a player’s mind there is a difference.

“If I was Aubameyang and I knew I only had one year left, I would sacrifice one year of my career to go on a free and get paid a ridiculous amount of money and have all the clubs in the world chasing me. Who wouldn’t?”
