Barcelona captain issues warning to manager Quique Setien ahead of La Liga return

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has issued a warning to manager Quique Setien ahead of the return of the Spanish top-flight football next month.

Messi is of the view that the manager needs to change his tactics and his training regimen and the Argentine superstar is unhappy with the form of the team ahead of the return to La Liga.

Messi told Sport: “I think the coach didn’t understand what I said or what I wanted to to say was explained poorly to him. What I said was playing as we did in those final few games before football was suspended, of course, we wouldn’t win the Champions League.

“I never doubted the squad we have and I don’t doubt we can win everything that’s left, just not playing as we were playing. Everyone has their own opinion and all opinions are respected.

Mine is based on being lucky enough to play in the Champions League for many years and I know it’s not possible to win it playing as we were playing.”
