best football academies in Nigeria
If you’ve been looking for the best football academies in Nigeria so you could join, then you’re reading the right post.

Although, Nigeria – and Africa at large – lack football academies, I have done my best to bring out the best football schools in Nigeria where good coaching and the right training is available.

Did you know Europeans rely on homegrown talents since it cost almost nothing to buy? And these players end up being the most successful football players in the world because of their early exposure to quality coaching.

Hopefully, these football academies in Nigeria will get you to those European clubs in the long run.

Let’s take a look at the list of football academies in Nigeria that I have here:

Pepsi Football Academy (PFA)

This is arguably one of the best football academies in Nigeria!
I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t know the Pepsi Football Academy. As the name implies, it is owned by Pepsi; the popular beverage.
Talented and skilled youngsters find the opportunity to develop their football career through the Pepsi Football Academy.
You’d be surprised that the likes of Mikel Obi and Elderson Echiejile are a product of the PFA.
The Pepsi Football Academy has a catch which is that they offer scholarships to their students to study in the United Kingdom.
Pepsi academy now has 14 centres across Nigeria – though they started off in Lagos at Agege Stadium – and there are over 3,000 students currently in attendance.

Barcelona Football Academy (FCBESCOLA)

It’s interesting Barcelona chose to operate a football academy in Nigeria where they admit kids between the ages of 5 to 18 by paying a registration fee for ₦13,500 (thirteen thousand, five hundred Naira) only.
This is one of the foreign football academies in Nigeria.
Barcelona football academy registration centre is located at Teslim Balogun Stadium Complex in Surulere, Lagos.
You have the option of paying with either cash or POS using your debit card.
Payment can also be made using GTBanks mobile app under the customized deposit option. Once you’ve made payment.
You’ll need to present evidence of it at the registration centre at Teslim Balogun Stadium. You can find more details about FCBEscola right here.

Kwara State Football Academy (KWFA)

The Kwara state government established the Kwara State Football Academy in 2005 under the Bukola Saraki government. If I’m right, I think this is the only government-sponsored football academy in Nigeria.
Former Nigeria Super Eagles technical adviser, Clemence Westerhof commenced the operations of the academy but is now managed by Swedish technical director, Paul Ashworth.
Ashworth has been in charge of various professional teams in Europe including as well as the likes of Dynamo Kiev and FC Peterborough.
The KWFA has seven former Nigeria International footballers with coaching certificates as members of their coaching crew.
Over 150 students are currently registered with KWFA. The academy accepts young talented footballers between the ages of 13 – 21 years.

Abuja Football College also got to the Semifinals of Croatia soccer tournament in July 2013, defeating Pro-clubs like FC Zagreb and Croatia’s under 21 national team.
Located at Wuse, Abuja Municipals Bwari, the AFC training centre has a residential suite that accommodates 120 students.
The academy also has a college that runs the USA educational curriculum with Wendy Cameron as the principal.

Players like Joel Obi of Inter Milan and Stanley Okoro of Battista are among the over 10 players PNKFA has succeeded in transferring abroad.
Top international coaches like Bryan Robson and Gary Smith were brought to train the students on short courses.
