Chelsea is set to intensify their bid for Olympique Marseille defender Boubacar Kamara at the end of the season when the transfer window opens.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants the club directors to step up their bid for Kamara, a player the Blues have been attempting to sign when he was at the Junior team with Olympique Marseille.

The 20-year-old player can also operate as a defensive midfielder, he was promoted to the senior team from the Marseille junior team, Kamara joined the club in 2005 and he now a mainstay in Andre Villas-Boas’ starting eleven.

Marseille finished second in Ligue 1 and has secured Champions League qualification for the next season after the season was halted by the Coronavirus.

The France Under-21 international would like to stay at Marseille but the financial impact of the pandemic could see him offloaded in the summer.

The defender has drawn comparisons to veteran Paris Saint-Germain star Thiago Silva.
