Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in contact with Manchester United’s target

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has contacted Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly for a possible transfer to Anfield, according to report.

The report in Le 10 Sport says Klopp has made the first move, and Koulibaly has been flattered by Liverpool’s interest.

Klopp is said to have called the Napoli defender to outline his plans for the next 12-18 months.

Klopp is keen on pairing Koulibaly with Virgil van Dijk at the centre- back and the German manager believes the pair would form a formidable partnership at Anfield.

The Senegalese defender is rated at around £90million, though his club could be prepared to accept a lower bid in the current economic climate, with a fee of £65m being mooted.

Koulibaly has been tipped with a move away from Napoli for the past few seasons with Manchester United credited with an interest but it seems the high valuation placed on him by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis deter the Red Devils from signing the former Genk star.
