Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the race to be the best goalkeeper in Europe

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is back to his best and he is ready to vie for the award to be the best in Europe when the season ends.

The Belgian shot-stopper joined Real Madrid after the World Cup in Russia in 2018 in a great form having won the World Cup Golden Glove award but at the start of the La Liga season to the end, Courtois was far from his best and he conceded 48 goals in 35 games which is his worst numbers since the 2011/12 season.

The burden to replace Keylor Navas, the three-time Champions League winner was huge for Courtois considering the fact that he arrived at a point when the entire Real Madrid team was tired and fatigued.

A year later, he’s turned the tide and is once again considered one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. Statistics to boast about one thing that sees Courtois stand out from the crowd is his ability to save shots that come from outside the penalty area.

Courtois has kept 12 clean sheets and conceded an average of 0.67 times per match one of the best rate in European top league.
