Solskjaer can repeat Haaland success with Sancho at Man United

In Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund possess two of the world's most exciting young players.

Since his move from Manchester City in 2017, Sancho has developed into one of the finest wingers in Germany and is currently enjoying his finest season to date.

The 20-year-old has netted 15 league goals as well as registering 14 assists and was expected to lead the line for England at EURO 2020 this summer before the tournament was pushed back a year.

It's no surprise to see Manchester United make Sancho one of their priority transfer targets as he fits the profile of player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bring to Old Trafford in order to continue his rebuild of the club and he solves a problem position for United.

Daniel James has done well since his summer switch from Swansea but isn't the world-class option that United need to return to the summit of the Premier League. It's unfair on the Welshman to shoulder so much of the goal scoring burden given he was brought to Old Trafford as a squad player.

The Reds were also interested in Sancho's now teammate Haaland during the January transfer window.

Haaland worked with Solskjaer during their time in Molde and netted 16 goals in 30 appearances prior to his switch to Red Bull Salzburg.

Given Solskjaer's prowess as a forward during his playing career, it was natural for the United great to impact Haaland's game during their time together in Norway.

Following that breakthrough campaign at Molde, the Norway international went from strength-to-strength in Austria, sending numerous records tumbling prior to his January switch to Dortmund.

Haaland hit the ground running in the Bundesliga too, netting 16 goals in just 14 appearances in Germany so far and the 19-year-old credits Solskjaer for aiding his development.

Should United win the race for Sancho, Solskjaer will again be presented with a young player with bags of potential.

The forward has showcased his quality this season but will present the United boss with a different challenge than with Haaland.

Sancho's goal and assist tally proves just how dangerous he can be from a wide position but Solskjaer must help the youngster be a constant threat, year after year.

Jurgen Klopp's use of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool is the perfect example.

The German was able to tap into Salah's best attributes and bring the very best out of the Egyptian at Anfield, resulting in two Premier League golden boots, one Champions League trophy and soon a Premier League winner's medal.

If Sancho does move to Old Trafford, Solskjaer must use everything he's learned as a player, a manager and from working with Sir Alex Ferguson to repeat his Haaland achievement with the England international.
