Sunday Dare To Override NFF And Install Redknapp As Rohr’s Successor

Redknapp As Rohr’s Successor

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is reportedly being lined up for a shock move to replace Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr.

Rohr’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the month and despite developing one of the most exciting squads in African football since taking charge in 2016, he’s future is becoming increasingly uncertain.

According to reports surfacing in the media, the national sports ministry have earmarked Redknapp as his successor, despite the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) wanting the German to continue in his current role.

Having taken the Super Eagles to the third-place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with one of the youngest squads in the competition, Rohr has been touted as the ideal person to develop the team further.

However, with growing pressure from the government department, the 66-year-old could be moved on if a contract is not agreed before the end of May.

Despite having held talks with the African giants in 2016, a return to management after a three-year hiatus will come as a major surprise.

According to ESPN, former Egypt manager Hector Cuper has also expressed his interest in the role should the post become vacant.
