Super Eagles goalkeeper eyes big move to European club soon

Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi eyed a big move to European club soon.

The 33-year-old Nigeria international spent four years with Chippa United before switching over to Kaizer Chiefs in 2019.

Akpeyi has he managed to endear himself to Kaizer Chiefs fans with his convincing displays between the sticks on the field where he becomes Amakhosi number one ahead of South African national team keeper Itumeleng Khune.

Akpeyi has been linked with a big-money move to unnamed European team this coming summer after keeping nine clean sheets in 19 appearances for Amakhosi despite under contract with until June 2022.

” Well, the dream of every player, or let me just say the dream of some African players is to actually play in Europe, where football was being invented,” Akpeyi declared in an interview with nationaldaily.ng.

“So if I have the opportunity, yes I will, when the opportunity comes, why not? I would like to finish my career in Europe.

“There are possibilities that it can happen and I look forward to it.

Amakhosi are currently top of the league table, four points ahead of second-place Mamelodi Sundowns before South African top-flight were postponed on March 18 due to the coronavirus outbreak, with dates for resumption still unknown, as countries continue to battle the spread.
