Super Falcons striker pens farewell message after ended her six-year-long career with French club

Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie has penned a farewell message after ended her six-year-long career with French women’s top-flight club En Avant Guingamp.

The 26-year-old Nigeria international joined the Division 1 Feminine side following a short spell at Turkish women’s top-flight club Ataşehir Belediyespor in 2014 and scored more than 45 goals in 106 appearances during her sojourn with the French side.

Oparnozie captain Guingamp to a French Women’s Cup semi-final before the Covid-19 outbreak has now given her thanks to the club on her official Twiter handle.



“After six years playing for En Avant Guingamp, I’m going to start a new chapter,” she wrote.

“I want to thank all the team members, and the fans, for these incredible years. Thank you so much.”

Other clubs she has played for include Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, Lüleburgaz 39 Spor (loan), Rossiyanka and Wolfsburg.

Oparanozie, who captained Nigeria to the Women’s World Cup stage for the first time in 20 years last year, is now a free agent and is expected to secure a new club in the coming weeks.
