Two American Clubs Battle Brazilian Side To Sign John Mikel Obi
The former Nigeria international left the Karadeniz Fırtınası after he criticised the decision to allow the Super Lig to continue amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Since the former Super Eagles captain left in March, Mikel has been linked with several clubs including a move back to England.
Brazilian side Botafogo were reportedly close to signing the 33-year-old, but a deal could not be agreed because of the coronavirus outbreak.
According to latest reports, two American clubs have now joined the Brazilian side in the battle for Mikel’s signature.
TUDN claim Monterrey and Tigres are interested in bringing Mikel to Liga MX, the Mexican top-flight.
However, it remains to be seen whether a move to North America is something that will interest the former Nigeria international considering he once revealed he would love to stay close to his family in London.
