Wearing Face Masks During PL Games Set To Be Scrapped After Players’ Complaints

The Premier League’s plan for players to wear face masks during games reportedly looks set to be scrapped after some stars complained.

Some players have started complaining the masks made it difficult for them to breathe.
‘Project Restart’ which aims to get the season back underway by June is set to press ahead when British prime minister Boris Johnson sets out his roadmap to bring the country out of lockdown amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, the plan to get players wearing face masks during games will likely be ditched, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

One player who wore a mask while training during lockdown is said to have compared it to “running on top of Everest” because of the impact it had on his breathing.

This latest issue is unlikely to have much of an effect on the wider ‘Project Restart’ plans but it is yet another example of the vast array of issues the Premier League will have to overcome in order to safely restart football.
