Chelsea held negotiations with 23-year-old England international

Ben Chilwell has discussed his future with Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers and told him he would be keen on sealing a transfer to Chelsea, reports claim. England international has grown in stature under Brendan during his time at the King Power Stadium and has been strongly linked with an £85m move to the London club.

Man City have also been reportedly interested in signing him in the past and Foxes are now braced to lose Ben this summer. There is concrete interest from the London giants, which has led to Chilwell and Rodgers discussing the defender’s future.

In those discussions, the 23-year-old defender explained his ambitions to his coach and confessed he would be keen on joining Chelsea. The English left-back is an admirer of former England and Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole, who became the best left-back in the world during his days in Chelsea.

Cole, in return, believes Ben will become an elite footballer. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is keen to bolster the left-back position and is likely to offload Marcos Alonso. Alonso will turn 30 this year, and Frank wants an upgrade on him viewing Ben as the perfect fit. In the meantime, Blues and Foxes are among the clubs battling it out for a top-four spot.

Ben is confident his side will secure a place in the UCL, while he hopes to win the FA Cup this campaign. He said: ‘Our squad has come back in top condition and the best I’ve seen in all the pre-seasons I’ve had at Leicester. We can’t wait to get going again.’
