Messi Ends Speculation, To Sign £52m Two-Year Barca Contract Extension With Special Clause

Messi Sign Two-Year Barca Contract Extension
Lionel Messi is reportedly set to sign a new two-year deal at Barcelona worth a whopping £52million.

The Barcelona captain – who has just one year left on his contract at the Nou Camp – has once again impressed this season having chipped in with 26 goals and 18 assists in 33 games.

No formal negotiations are said to have taken place between Messi and the club due to the coronavirus crisis.

GoalBall understand that due to a clause in Messi’s contract, he could have walked away for free, but that option expired on June 10.

All signs point towards Messi staying in Catalonia, and Mundo Deportivo state that Barca are ready to offer the 32-year-old a new two-year contract on the same terms as his current deal.

According to Goal, Messi pockets £500,000-a-week, which equates to £26m-a-year.

Over the two year deal the four-time Champions League winner will take home £52m.

Like his current deal, the Argentina ace will be given the chance to walk away for free should he desire a fresh challenge.

Once again the clause will expire a year before his deal runs out.
