People Have Refused To Forget Goal I Missed Against Korea At 2010 World Cup– Yakubu

Goal Missed Korea 2010 World Cup Yakubu
Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni says messages still keep pouring in for the goal he missed against the Korea Republic at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

According to Yakubu, people have refused to forget the incident and move on, but admitted he’s felt bad for days about the missing the chance.

It would be recalled that the former Everton forward missed a glorious chance to put the Super Eagles ahead in the game, with an empty net at his mercy.

“I felt bad when I missed it but people still talk about it.

“I have always done my best to help the country but it’s weird that people still send me messages till date even on social media about that miss,” he said.

Despite the miss, Aiyegbeni converted a late penalty to salvage a 2–2 draw for Nigeria but it was not enough to earn Lars Lagerbäck’s men a place in the round of 16.

Yakubu scored 20 goals from 57 appearances for the senior national team.

He also won two bronze medal for the Super Eagles at the African cup of Nations.
