Victor Osimhen’s Father’s Burial Slated For June 23

The burial of Victor Osimhen’s dad, late Patrick Osimhen, has been slated to happen in Lagos, on Tuesday June 23, the family has announced.

According to funeral arrangement made available by the family, Pa Osimhen, who died at 80, will be interred according to Christians rites at a private cemetery, Omega Memorial Garden, Ojodu, Lagos.

Late Osimhen, who died on May 23, after a brief illness, is survived by seven children- Andrew, Samson, Gloria, Esther, Joy, Blessing and Super Eagles’ goal poacher, Victor Osimhen.

He lost his wife, Mrs Christiana Osimhen, in 2001.
The Osimhen family from Uromi, Edo State, said they would adhere strictly to the social and physical distancing directive by the Lagos State government during the burial ceremony.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old is yet to join his team-mates for pre-season training and Lille’s manager, Christophe Galtier, has made excuse for him.

“Everybody is here. Timothy Weah who returns from injury, does a week of test, just like Yusuf Yazici who is in the evaluation phase after his return,” Galtier told Lille’s official website on Wednesday.

“The only player missing is Victor Osimhen, who recently lost his father.

“At this period, he needs to be close to his family. So we have decided with the club to allow him stay with his family for the funeral.

”He is therefore absent for several days. I give him, like everyone at the club, my total support in this difficult time.”

Lille began preparations for the new season this week with the Super Eagles striker the only absentee.
