After suffering heart attack, Iker Casillas celebrates last career trophy with Porto

Former Madrid player Iker Casillas last suffered a heart attack at the training ground and have prevented him from playing football since then, but it's only now that Casillas is officially hanging his boots.

On Wednesday night, Porto defeated Sporting Lisbon 2-0 and guaranteed themselves the 29th Primeira Liga trophy.

Among the players celebrating the win at Dragao was Iker Casillas - the legendary Real Madrid goalkeeper has been on the club's books since 2015.

The World Cup and European Championship winner has not appeared for Porto since April 2019 when suffered a heart attack during a training session.

However, as per ESPN, he was given a role on the team's technical staff before the start of the season; Iker was also included in the first-team squad, even though never named in the match squad.

Casillas has already announced his retirement, but it's only now that his contract with Porto expires - so this is his win, too.

"15 months later, I stepped on the Dragao pitch again," Casillas tweeted on Thursday morning. "Great memories! Excited by this Championship conquered by FC Porto! Congratulations to colleagues, coaching staff, club and fans!"

Of course, Iker will be forever remembered by the fans of Real Madrid: he won 19 trophies with his boyhood club, including three Champions League cups.
