Atletico Madrid reject Arsenal Guendouzi and Partey swap offer

The Gunners made an initial player + cash offer 2 weeks ago to land Partey.

This week they have included out-of-favour Matteo Guendouzi as part of the deal.

However, Atletico Madrid have turned down both offers and are holding out for a cash-only proposition.

Arsenal seem unwilling to pay Partey's release clause of £45.5m due to scarce funds in the COVID-hit market.

Arsenal had an offer of cash + Matteo Guendouzi for Thomas Partey rejected this week, according to the Guardian.

The Gunners' initially proposed a player (NOT Guendouzi) + £22.5m for Partey 2 weeks ago, before including Matteo for that unnamed player and cash on top.

Atletico turned down both offers, the latter just this Monday.

The Spanish side are desperate to keep the midfielder (his contract expires in 2022) and are holding out for a cash-only offer, presumably one to match the Ghanaian's release clause of £45.5m.

Arsenal have reportedly indicated their reluctance to match that offer early on and are now exploring creative routes to getting the player they want. Including Guendouzi makes a lot of sense g

iven his high ceiling and the fact his Arsenal career looks to be over anyway.
