Bartomeu claims VAR was not appropriate after the league returned

Bartomeu was quoted by Mundo Deportivo: "Real Madrid beat us, but the management of the VAR was not the most appropriate in the last stage of the competition. There is no VAR at the height of LaLiga.

"I do not know if Florentino's call to Rubiales existed and I wish it did not exist because if we did not have a problem in the world of soccer.

"I cannot imagine every president calling Rubiales when they do not like something. We made a formal complaint."

Real Madrid pipped Barcelona to the Liga title this season, albeit with a lot of favour from controversial refereeing decisions.

As per a recent report from Diaro AS, Barca were among the La Liga teams that suffered the most from VAR during the campaign.

Having missed out on the chance to claim their third consecutive league triumph, the Blaugrana have switched their focus to the Champions League, with the second leg of their round of 16 clash with Napoli coming up on August 8.
