Cagliari vs Juventus prediction Preview and Odds

Cagliari vs Juventus predictions ahead of this Serie A clash on Wednesday.

Juve keep streak going
A 2-0 win over Sampdoria at the weekend saw Juventus crowned champions of Italy for the ninth year running. They finally got over the line after a wobble under Maurizio Sarri – who won his first piece of major domestic silverware.

Juventus have collected 810 points over the last nine Serie A campaigns (an average of exactly 90 per season) – only Barcelona (815) have managed better across Europe’s top-5 league in the same period. They’ve been stellar, partly because they keep their focus until the very end of the season. Over the past eight campaigns, Juventus have never lost a game in the round after winning the Scudetto (W6 D2). Our predictions point to that continuing here.

History against Cagliari
While the visitors are out to continue their decade of brilliance, the hosts want to break their rotten form. However, they are going into an incredibly difficult game with a long history of poor results against the Old Lady. Cagliari has only beaten Juventus 11 times in their 77 previous meetings, losing 40 times.

Juve has won each of their last eight visits to Cagliari, so it’s not hard to see why the visitors have been priced up as favourites to take the points. With Sarri still trying to get his team up and running with his approach, we don’t expect major changes as Juve target a Champions League run next month. That should see the visitors continue their 18 games unbeaten run against the Sardinians (W15 D3).

Champions quality to tell
We’re siding with Juventus in our predictions here, following a season which has seen the Sardinians come up short against the big sides. Cagliari has failed to win at home to any side in the top half so far, losing every meeting with the top seven.

Meanwhile, only SPAL (two) have collected fewer points than Cagliari (four) since start of July in Serie A. After that awful run, we think there’s value to be found in backing Juve to claim the points and continue their streak of celebrating titles with another three-points. Meanwhile, we’re backing a 2-0 victory for the visitors, who have scored twice in 12 of their last 13 games. Cagliari, meanwhile, have failed to score in three out of four at home.
