Everton Vs Southampton: Alex Iwobi hundred per cent fit to play against Southampton

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has provided an update on Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi declaring the Nigerian is hundred per cent fit to play against Southampton in tonight’s Premier League encounter at the Goodison Park.

The Italian boss had earlier on Tuesday morning made an official confirmation that the former Arsenal winger picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 league defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

Ancelotti told Patrick Davison on the Sky Sports Football Podcast following the defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and shed some light on his decision to sub the Nigeria international.

Anthony Gordon had come onto the field of play as a replacement for Iwobi at half-time and it appeared that it was due to an injury which was confirmed by the manager.

“I wanted to use fresh legs for the game, Iwobi had a little problem on his hamstring and so, I took him out and after that, I put [on a] fresh player for the end of the game,” Ancelotti explained.

But ahead of Thursday’s clash with Southampton, Ancelotti, while speaking at his pre-match press conference via Video link at USM Finch Farm on Wednesday revealed that the 24-year-old was fit.
