Genoa vs Inter Milan predictions ahead of this clash in Serie A on Saturday.

Inter’s missed chance
It’s hard to shake the feeling that this campaign has been a huge missed opportunity for Inter Milan. While Juventus are set to win their ninth title in a row, it’s hard to imagine they’ll be this weak next season. Any managerial switch will make Juve harder to beat, while time with Sarri and another transfer window should improve them. Right now, the champions are blowing it in the run-in.

Inter have dropped four points in their last two games, missing the chance to move within three of the leaders. When you look at other shaky post-restart results for the Nerazzurri, it’s clear they’ve failed to grasp this opportunity. Now they have nothing on the line other than delaying Juve’s coronation, so can they get themselves up for a clash with Genoa?

Genoa target safety
The hosts will certainly be motivated, having won their derby encounter with Sampdoria this week. That win was a major boost in the Grifone’s chase of safety, as they remain four points clear of the drop zone with three rounds of games left to play. They are nearly over the line, but with tricky clashes against Inter and Sassuolo to come they could be made to wait.

While a home win would basically secure Genoa’s Serie A spot for next season, they are particularly vulnerable when it comes to facing sides in the higher reaches of Serie A. They’ve suffered 17 league defeats this term, with 12 of those coming in meetings with sides in the top 10. Our predictions point to them suffering a 13th loss on Saturday.

Hosts can’t bridge the gap
Genoa have been unable to match Serie A’s strongest teams at this ground this season. They have played six of the top 10 here, losing all of those clashes. While they can put up a challenge – having scored in each of those defeats – Genoa can’t seem to hold off the league’s top teams.

Inter are certainly a danger for the Grifone, as no Serie A side have accumulated more points on the road than Inter this season, picking up 37 in 17 trips. The Nerazzurri have averaged over two goals per away game, while they’ve won seven of nine visits to teams in the bottom half. However, both teams have scored in 71% of Inter’s away games this term, so our first prediction on this clash is Inter to win and both teams to score.

Meanwhile, half of Genoa’s home losses to the top seven have finished 2-1. That’s Inter’s most popular score on the road, with four of their 11 away wins coming by that scoreline. We’re backing a repeat in our correct score prediction.
