Huddersfield vs West Bromwich Albion Preview, Betting Tips and Odds

Huddersfield vs West Bromwich Albion predictions ahead of this clash in the Championship.

Pressure on both sides
West Brom’s promotion bid took a hit in midweek, as they dropped two points at home to Fulham. That’s left the Baggies only a point clear of Brentford, with the Bees showing no sign of slowing down. That’s left Saven Bilic’s men needing to win their final two games to guarantee their place in the top-flight.

Before they host QPR on the final day, West Brom needs to secure three points at a Huddersfield side who are fighting the drop. They are just three points clear of the relegation zone, which leaves them battling for points. The good news for the visitors is that the required fight hasn’t been present in Huddersfield’s recent displays.

Huddersfield can’t get clear of trouble
The Terriers have been around the bottom three for most of their season since slipping out of the Premier League. That’s despite turning to the highly-rated Cowley brothers to halt their slide. Huddersfield has claimed only six points from their last eight games, with Birmingham and Hull the only two sides to fare worse in the same period.

A huge problem for Huddersfield has been their lack of attacking returns. They’ve been limited going forward for much of the season, but lately, they’ve found it tough to break down their opponents. The Terriers have failed to score in each of their last four Championship games. They’ve hunted for 0-0 draws and picked up three. While they’re likely to employ the same approach in this clash, we don’t see them shutting out the Baggies.

Big Step for Baggies
West Brom has the chance to move four points clear of third, putting all the pressure back on Brentford. Their five-game unbeaten run will produce confidence that they can get past a Huddersfield side who have struggled in their clashes with the top sides in the division. When you add in that of late the Terriers have been really poor – failing to score in three at home, including defeats to Wigan and Luton.

West Brom has won seven of nine trips to teams in the bottom 10. The visitors have conceded only 16 times in 22 away trips, so we expect them to hold off a Huddersfield side who have lost any attacking threat. The Baggies boast the league’s best away record, with eight of their 12 successes on the road coming to nil. As a result, we are starting our predictions by backing West Brom to win to nil, given the great value available on the visitors.

Huddersfield has suffered five 2-0 defeats at home this season, with that scoreline landing in two of their last three at home. West Brom has scored 10 times across their last five games, while they are the second-highest scorers in the league. They should do enough going forward to win this one, while we’re going with a 2-0 away win as our correct score prediction after 64% of West Brom’s away games finished with under 2.5 goals.
