Inter Milan vs Fiorentina Preview, Betting Tips and Odds

Inter Milan vs Fiorentina predictions ahead of this clash in Serie A on Wednesday.

Inter blow title chances… again
As they approached their clash at Roma, Inter had the prospect of a surprise title race on the horizon. A result against the Giallorossi would have at least put pressure on Juventus, but Inter failed to challenge for the title. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, this feels like the third time this season that Inter have written themselves out of the scudetto race.

Antonio Conte can’t have been pleased with his team in the aftermath, but he turned on everyone in his press conference. He blamed those who want him to fail, their busy schedule – which is the same as the rest of the league – and then he complained that people see him as a complainer. There are signs that Conte has skipped his successful period and gone straight to the moaning which saw him depart Juve and Chelsea under a cloud.

Fiorentina rally in the run-in
Aiming to make Conte’s season worse is Beppe Iachini, who has just confirmed Fiorentina’s place in the top flight. La Viola are already looking past Iachini – who is viewed as a firefighter and not quite up to the glamour that the club expect. As a result, we’ve seen them linked with a headline move for Danielle Di Rossi, while they’ve reportedly offered a deal to high-flying Verona’s Ivan Juric.

Despite the call for change, things are going well for the visitors ahead of this trip. They’re unbeaten in five after a victory over Torino at the weekend, while they have found a scoring touch in front of goal. Since the restart, they’ve scored in all but one of their eight games, with both teams scoring in six.

More headaches for Conte
The Nerazzurri have had little trouble going forward this term, having scored in 94% of their Serie A matches. However, their defense has left a lot to be desired. They conceded another two at the weekend, while their five home games have seen them to concede in every game bar a meeting with struggling Brescia.

Fiorentina have scored in all three of their away games since the restart, but they’ve also conceded in every single one. With Milan seeing both teams score in eight of their 10 matches post-restart, we see more defensive headaches for Conte in our prediction here. We are going with both teams to score, having seen it land in 69% of la Viola’s away trips.

Inter have a brilliant record against la Viola, winning 17 of the last 19 clashes between them here. That includes their 2-1 victory here last season and the 2-1 win which they picked up against them in the Coppa Italia earlier this term. That scoreline is both Inter’s most frequent home result and Fiorentina’s most frequent away result. Given that, we’re backing a 2-1 win for Inter on Wednesday night.
