Juventus keep missing the mark
Everything fell in Juve’s favour in midweek, right up until their clash with Udinese. A defeat for the champions has left them waiting on the title, with their run-in displaying some traits that Juve rarely show, especially during their eight-season Serie A sweep under Antonio Conte and Max Allegri.

Juventus have conceded 13 goals in their last six games: only Brescia (16) and SPAL (20) have done worse over this period. Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri’s side have dropped 18 points from leading situations in this Serie A season, eight of which have come in their last five games. Our predictions point to them ending that poor form with a win this weekend.

Sampdoria heading for safety
Despite losing their last match against Genoa, Sampdoria remains the team with the most wins since start of July in Serie A (five), while Juve has managed to win only two games in the same period. It’s an incredible turnaround from former Juve boss Claudio Ranieri, he has guided Samp away from relegation fears and put them onto steady footing in Serie A. Meanwhile, they’ve done it with a swagger.

The visitors have scored 15 goals across their last seven matches, while they come into this clash having scored three in each of their last two away games. The visitors have scored in 13 of their last 14 Serie A matches, putting them in line for a goal against this vulnerable Juve side.

Juve can finally cross the line
We do think that the hosts will have enough to win this clash, given the head to head record between the pair. Juventus and Sampdoria have met 123 times in Serie A so far, with the Old Lady winning 60 times compared to Sampdoria’s 26 (37 draws). Meanwhile, Juve have found the net in each of their last 10 home games against Sampdoria (scoring 29 goals in total).

However, Juve have conceded in their last three home matches, while they have failed to keep a clean sheet across their last seven Serie A matches. We are backing an adventurous Samp side to trouble the champions, so we are going with both teams to score as our pick for this clash. However, with Juve having the edge over the visitors, an 11th 2-1 victory of the season for the champions is our correct score prediction.
