Lampard aims cheeky dig at Man United: 'It would be nice if VAR worked in our favour!'

Chelsea manager Lampard praises United's attacking prowess and says that his players need to be careful around the penalty box.

He adds that Bruno Fernandes is a cheeky player who can get penalty decisions in his favour.

Lampard says that United have been getting very lucky with VAR decisions and he hopes that the same does not happen in the FA Cup semi-final.

"They [Chelsea players] have to be careful because when players of such high level, quality and speed of the Manchester United forwards travel quickly you have to move your feet and not dive in," Lampard said ahead of the FA Cup semi-final clash (via The Guardian).

"And Bruno Fernandes, to be fair, because he’s very clever in his movement. We saw that at Aston Villa to make something feel like a penalty where maybe it even isn’t. The players don’t have to give that.

"I would like to think that with VAR you have to be level-headed. Some might go against you or not. But we seem to be in a period where, in terms of Manchester United, they’ve got a few in their favour.

"It would be nice if VAR worked in our favour in this one, I guess. Fair play, we’ve lost three and that’s just a fact. I’m not into revenge. I just want to win the game on Sunday and against a very good team."

According to a study done by ESPN, Manchester United have had as many as 14 VAR decisions in their favour, including 7 disallowed goals against them: that makes Soslkjaer's side VAR favourites.

Lampard previously spoke highly of United's attack and is right in warning his players to be careful around the box - we don't want this high stakes match to get spoiled just because United somehow have found a way to control VAR! Follow us on Google newsTwitter and on Facebook
