Liverpool Defender Van Dijk set to match Robbie Fowler's longstanding record

Liverpool ex player  Robbie Fowlerk took part in every single league game for Liverpool back in the 1994/95 and 1995/96 seasons and remains the only player to record such consecutive campaigns.

The new Premier League champions have three games of their title-winning campaign remaining.

Virgil van Dijk has taken part in every single league game so far and has been on the pitch for every minute of this historic campaign.

The Dutch defender appeared in all 38 games last season too but had to be subbed off in one game (against Southampton) due to a rib injury.

If he makes an appearance in the next three games then that will make him the first Liverpool player to play in every league game in consecutive seasons since Robbie Fowler.

'God' achieved this feat in 1994/95 (when there were 42 games in the season) and 1995/96 - what's amazing is that he was 19 years old at the start of the 94/95 season!

Van Dijk has changed the fortunes of the club and is a cornerstone of this successful Liverpool squad.
