Manchester United set to appoint first ever club technical director

Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward is prepared to resume the club's search for a first technical director.

The Telegraph says Woodward is keen to appoint either Atletico Madrid's Andrea Berta or Fabio Paratici of Juventus.

Woodward has considered hiring someone to oversee football operations before but gave up, only for him to decide to now restart the hunt in the coming months.

Other targets include Paratici and Antero Henrique, who is currently without a job after leaving Paris Saint-Germain a year ago.

United have also previously been linked to Red Bull's footballing guru Ralf Rangnick.

It is claimed the position would be 'wide-ranging' and involve working in areas such as recruitment, the club's training ground and the development of women's football.
