Mikel Arteta Pity Mesut Ozil, Reassures Him His Arsenal Future

Arteta Reassures Ozil Arsenal Future
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists there is “always a place” for out-of-favour Mesut Ozil in his side – despite reports linking him with a move away from the club.

Ozil has not featured for Arsenal since Premier League football got back underway after the coronavirus pandemic last month.

Despite being spotted in training at London Colney, the 31-year-old has been left out by Arteta, plunging his Emirates future into further doubt.

Reports have suggested the Gunners are keen to get the German off their books this summer, given that he rakes in a club-high salary worth £350,000 per week.

But Arteta has played down talk of an exit for Ozil.
“There is always a place for a player of his quality,” the Spaniard said.

“Players can adapt to different systems and we can adapt systems for different players.

“Sometimes it is not just about what we want to play or how we want to play, sometimes we have to try to field the players that we have available in the right moments, in the right positions, to perform and be comfortable on the pitch to do what we require them to do.”

Fenerbahce are said to be interested in signing Ozil – and the player himself has expressed his admiration for them in the past and prepared to accept a massive pay cut.
