Napoli vs Sassuolo predictions ahead of this encounter in Serie A as the visitors look to continue their fantastic run

Can Sassuolo bounce back?
After an impressive run, Sassuolo saw their great Serie A form dip in midweek. A 2-1 loss at home to AC Milan ended an eight-game unbeaten run for the Neroverdi, who struggled after going down to 10 men for the last 45 minutes. They were up against another of the league’s form sides, so there’s little shame in that setback for the visitors.

However, Sassuolo now has to prove themselves with a big response. That loss has been a bit of a reset for the away side, who will look to get back among the goals. The visitors have scored 23 goals in 10 games since returning to action, so can they also cause problems for a Napoli side who just lost their own unbeaten run?

Setback for Gattuso
Napoli lost at a Parma side who hadn’t won in seven before Tuesday’s encounter. That defeat did stop the rise of the Partenopei, while it has also left them with just one win across their last four matches. They’ve been left in seventh as a result, only one spot ahead of Sassuolo. That leaves the two looking even, thanks to problems at the back for the hosts.

Gattuso may have a reputation for being Milan’s midfield muscle, but he’s been unable to straighten out Napoli’s defence. He’s certainly improved the side, but they just can’t seem to keep a clean sheet. Not only have they conceded in each of their last eight Serie A matches, but they’ve also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 11 home league games. They’ve conceded 11 times in nine since the restart and more could be on the way.

Trouble for Napoli’s defence
Sassuolo has looked strong on the road since returning, with eight goals and 10 points from their last four trips in the league. They’ve moved up into eighth after that run, which would be a solid finish for the highly-rated Roberto De Zerbi. His team have already held off Inter Milan and Juventus since the restart as well as winning at Lazio, so our predictions back them to worry the Napoli defence.

Napoli has looked poor at home throughout the season, failing to win nine of their 17 games here. With Sassuolo losing only six away games this term, we are backing them to avoid defeat in Naples. Sassuolo’s strong pressing game and attacking threat make them a problem for the Partenopei, so we’re also backing a 1-1 draw as our correct score prediction, with both teams scoring in the Neroverdi’s last 10 matches.
