Parma vs Napoli Preview, Betting Tips and Odds

Parma vs Napoli predictions ahead of this Serie A clash on Wednesday.

Napoli back on form
Napoli’s win over Udinese continued their rise under Gennaro Gattuso, a man who has taken a club at its lowest ebb and made them dream of conquering Lionel Messi’s Barcelona next month. That big Champions League tie is set to be their last for quite a while, with the Partenopei sitting in sixth place in Serie A. They can’t climb higher than fifth in the run-in.

However, Napoli are out to finish on a high as they rebuild for next season. Had everything gone as planned, Napoli were expecting to have moved on most of this squad by now. Instead, they’re playing out the season with evolution, rather than revolution, expected when the transfer window finally opens. Our predictions point to their good progress continuing against this struggling Parma side.

Parma continue to struggle
While Napoli are thriving in the restart, the same can’t be said for the hosts. Parma had the chance to boost their form at the weekend when they led 2-0 against Sampdoria, but they threw that away to lose 3-2 and fall behind Samp in the table. The hosts returned to action in the mix for Europe, but they have fallen to 14th after a seven-game winless run.

Things could still get worse for Parma, who have a terrible home record overall. Not only have they won just six of 17 at their own ground this season, but they have claimed four of those against the current bottom six. Against the sides currently above them, Parma has lost eight and drawn one of 11 matches.

Both sides good for goals
While Parma are struggling in the league, they are still supplying the goals. They’ve seen both teams score in all nine games since the restart, with four on the spin at this ground finishing without a clean sheet for either team. Just as Parma’s poor form hasn’t impacted their attack, Napoli’s good run hasn’t solved their issues in defence, as they have conceded in each of their last seven Serie A matches.

Napoli have won three of their last five games and head into this one sharper on the road than at home. They are unbeaten on their travels at sides below them, so they should have too much for Parma. We’re starting our predictions with Napoli to win and both teams to score, while we’re also backing the Partenopei to claim a fourth 2-1 victory in six games.
